Report

The purpose of this report is to inform my internship in the Clinic at the Weissenhof, I am going to describe and analyse all the aspect about this clinic. With this information I going to make a recommendation with all the good and bad aspect about this place.

The Clinic at the Weissenhof (the name in German is Klinikum am Weissenhof) is a psychiatric hospital in Weinsberg, German. It was opened in 1903 as a royal sanatorium on the public domain of Weißenhof.  Its numerous departments are general psychiatry, gerontological psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, pediatry and adolescent psychiatry, as well as addiction therapy and psycho-therapeutic medicine. In 522 regular beds 13.000 patients are treated annually. The hospital has approximately 1.100 employees, which makes it the largest employer in the area of Weinsberg.

In my internship with the Clinic at the Weissenhof, I was assigned in forensic psychiatry

In the department of forensic psychiatry I have to learn about mental health and the law, specifically the law in Germany about the mental prisoners. In the work we have to deal with the risk that the patient could possible harm to others as well as themselves. We also have to prepare reports for mental health review tribunals, hospital managers’ hearings, other practitioners and criminal justice agencies.

My time in the Clinic at the Weissenhof, give me a lot experience in the field of mental health and the law, the technique and the treatment have to be balance. 

In conclusion I learn a lot about the law and how affect the life and the treatment of the patient. I have to say that in my country we don't  know much about this topic and to make the student work in this place may increase our knowledge about how implement laws more beneficial for both parts, the patient and the community of mental health.
